Feed (Vodcasts of Conference) Language and globalization are interrelated. Language is the primary means by which people communicate with and relate to each other. Language is informative, and serves as the conduit for learning new concepts and gaining knowledge. It is expressive of ideas and feelings. It is also a formative force. Identities, territories, personal and social spaces are determind by language. Although language is inherently local, it eventually becomes global. Globalization is a discourse in which people, information, images, and commodities flow from one space to another. The weaving of this human bond relies on this global discourse, even more so in the dawn of this new millennium. This discourse transforms both local and global spaces into a new 'glocal' dimension in which languages continue to function and continue to be transformed. This conference will explore the relationship between language and globalization in this context.
